Shaken Not Stirred

Five decades of James Bond action and music

Bond. James Bond. Those three words conjure up 50 years of imagery and music.  Action, fast cars, cool gadgets, eccentric villains, exotic destinations, iconic songs, beautiful women, and vodka martinis (shaken not stirred).

The best Bond was Sean Connery of course, but others have their favorites: Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig or even David Niven.  Yes, Niven played Bond in 1967.  He was chosen to play in the spoof  of “Casino Royale”.

Which ever Bond actors or movies you liked best, one thing is certain.  James Bond has been part of pop culture in the States and across the pond for over 60 years. And the Bond legacy continues. On November 9th, 2012, Skyfall, the 23rd Bond film in the franchise will be released in the US.  Skyfall will be the third film to star Daniel Craig as 007 and the first Bond film released in IMAX.

Since November is a several months away (as I write), this summer would be a great time to watch some of those classic Bond flicks that you might not have seen for a long time.  You will also want to add Bond theme songs to your music collection on iTunes.

To get you in the mood, play the James Bond theme song as you read on. It  debuted in 1962 movie, Dr. No, starring Sean Connery.
